Go See Brandon Jennings Play

Todd Welter Posted: Nov. 16, 2009

Tickets are available. Call now. It doesn’t matter if your seats are in the nose bleeds or front and center. Buy them now. Take your kids as well and tell them watching Brandon Jennings play is better than anything they are showing on Nickelodeon these days.

Yes, Milwaukee in case you haven’t noticed, and judging by the attendance figures you haven’t, you finally have a reason to watch the Bucks again.

His name is Brandon Jennings and just seven games into his NBA career he has already broken a record held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He has taken over three of those games and almost single handily willed the Bucks to victory. He has torched the Nuggets for 32 and barring any injury, is on pace to lead the Bucks to relevancy in this town.

He is not your boring, every day run of the mill, Michael Redd type star. No, he is flashy. He is a prodigy, a wunderkind, and if you want me to speak in the present vernacular, he is redonkulous. He gets it done with spectacular layups, knee breaking crossover dribbles and knocks down shot after shot without a miss in sight.

What makes him even more special is he literally dropped into the Bucks’ lap. Nine other teams passed on him. Heck, a team in Italy had him buried at the end of the bench. Makes you question what Italians are thinking even playing the game of basketball.

He is a gift from the basketball gods, a present given to a dormant basketball town to actually care about the NBA again.

So cherish this gift and buy tickets now. Buy them up in bulk because Jennings is not your every day Bucks player. He is a superstar in the making. The only way he does not achieve icon status in this town is if either Mark Madsen sneaks into the building and falls on his neck like he did with T.J. Ford or the Bucks move out of town. At last check, Madsen is not allowed in NBA buildings anymore.

Jennings has the type of talent that is going to make you love the Bucks again. Picture Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder franchising changing talent only with a basketball. The guy is like a gazelle with the basketball. You blink and the next thing you know the kid has already put the ball in the basket and is running down to play defense.

Oh, let’s not forget he actually looks to set up his teammates first. This is not going to be the second coming of Mo Williams or Sam Cassel. Jennings actually likes to pass first which explains why his points do not come in the second half because that is when realizes nobody else besides Andrew Bogut is scoring the ball.

Jennings will be a player this town has not seen in over four decades. He has the ability to impact the franchise like the man whose rookie single game scoring record Jennings just broke.

A guy like Jennings should be playing to packed houses. So buy up some tickets and trust me, you will get your monies worth.
