UW vs UW??
MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin will face Washington in a home-and-home football series in 2017 (Sept. 2 in Madison) and 2018 (Sept. 1 in Seattle), the two schools announced on Tuesday. The two teams have met four previous times, including in the 1960 Rose Bowl. The last time the teams met was in 1992 when Barry Alvarez’s Badgers opened the season at No. 2-ranked Washington.
“I think this is a great opportunity to play against a quality opponent in two terrific settings,” head coach Bret Bielema. “Obviously our fans at Camp Randall will enjoy seeing a Pac-10 team come to Madison. I know a lot of our fans also like to travel to our road games and Seattle is a great city and Husky Stadium is a wonderful venue for college football.”
Washington is the latest in a long line of home-and-home series Wisconsin has set for future schedules. The Badgers will also take on Pac-10 foes Arizona State (2010 in Madison and 2013 in Tempe), Oregon State (2011 in Madison and 2012 in Corvallis) and Washington State (2014 in Pullman and 2015 in Madison), in addition to Virginia Tech (2016 in Blacksburg and 2017 in Madison) from the ACC.
Wisconsin’s 2010 non-conference schedule is set as well with the Badgers opening the season at UNLV. A favorite road-game destination of many UW fans, it will be Wisconsin’s fourth trip to Las Vegas since 1996. The home schedule will kick off with a game against San Jose State on Sept. 11, the second meeting in history between the teams.
UW hosts Arizona State the following weekend for the teams’ first meeting since 1968. The Sun Devils have won both previous meetings between the teams. The Badgers then wrap up the non-conference schedule with a home game vs. Austin Peay on Sept. 25. The remainder of the 2010 home schedule includes games against Big Ten foes Minnesota, Ohio State, Indiana and Northwestern.
